Marcel Djama is a senior research fellow at the International Research Centre on Agriculture and Development (France), and a visiting senior research fellow at the University Putra Malaysia. He holds a PhD in Social Sciences (with a focus on political anthropology and economic sociology) from the “Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales” (Paris). He is involved in academic research, teaching, training and expertise in the field of politics and development studies. Marcel has done anthropological fieldwork in East Africa (Somalia) and Oceania (New Caledonia). He is currently conducting research on global environmental agenda and development policies in Southeast Asia (Malaysia and Indonesia). His current research explores the rhetoric of global governance and the new technologies of power related to it, like standards and certification.
