Essentially a process operating by living organisms, the biogas industry is a natural target for synthetic biology. Synthetic biology combines biology and engineering to design and construct biological devices. Contrary to traditional genetic engineering that only alters an already existing DNA sequence, synthetic biology allows us to build entirely new sequences of DNA and put […]

Dr Zhe Lyu is a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Georgia. He has over 7 years’ experience in methanogenic Archaea research and is currently involved in engineering methanogenic Archaea to promote biogas production. The project is led by Dr. William B. Whitman, a leading expert and distinguished professor who has studied methanogenic Archaea for over 30 years.
Zhe Lyu is also serving as an instructor for the UGA-iGEM team which dedicates to developing parts and tools for methanogenic Archaea. To find out more information, visit http://2013.igem.org/Team:UGA-Georgia and http://whitman.myweb.uga.edu/
